Patterned Imprinted Concrete
Patterned Imprinted Concrete (PIC) is an innovative skilled technique. It adds colour and patterns to freshly poured concrete. This gives concrete the appearance of natural materials like stone, slate, and timber. This eliminates the associated high costs of natural products.
Minimal Maintenance
Patterned concrete offers a unique product with minimal maintenance. It performs far better than alternative products such as block pavers, flagstones, tarmac or flagstones. Many problems can be eliminated by using a dolomite subbase and four inches fibre reinforced concrete. These problems can be attributed to other products, such as sinking and weeds. You will also encounter problems with block paving, woodrot, and pest control when you have wooden decked patio areas.

What is Pattern Imprinted Concrete?
Simply put, patterned concrete, also known as stamped concrete, involves pouring concrete on a base, then applying a colour and finally a hardener. This is different from traditional concreting that used blocks to create your finish.
The pattern is applied once the concrete has cooled. You can choose from many different prints, such as brickwork or textured stone. You can add curb appeal to your home by using patterned concrete, especially for driveway lining.
Good quality print
The quality and durability of the concrete printed is crucial. To properly lay fresh concrete, you need to take extreme care, be patient, and dedicate your time. If the concrete forms inconsistently, it can lead to a weak floor.
A contractor might use 6-8 rigid matsa and 1 flexible mat to print a set. It is necessary to use six mats to span the narrowest section. However, flexible mats are used to access and to print areas that rigid mats won’t.
While most printing mats are 600x600mm, there is some flexibility in matt size. First, determine how big you need the mats. Next, find the best price.
Colour Consistency
You should consider colour consistency when installing imprinted concrete. This will ensure that your flooring has the desired colour. Colour surface hardener is the main component of patterned concrete. Antique release agents are also important.
The final result will be poor if the colour top coater is not applied correctly or it isn’t sufficient. This is especially evident in commercial jobs larger than retail shop flooring.
Large commercial jobs may require several concrete deliveries. This can result in slight colour variation in each concrete mixture. The purpose of the surface hardener is to match the colours together after they have been applied. This is ideal if you have a larger job that takes more than a few hours to complete.
Ensuring Long-Term Durability
To ensure that the concrete floor is durable, the sub-stone foundation must be mixed with the ground below it. This could be soil or stone.
Additionally, the concrete mix used plays a significant role in ensuring the structural integrity is maintained for years to follow.
This is especially important in areas that receive high traffic such as driveways or multi-storey garages.
Reduce the Chance of the Concrete Cracking
Concrete patterned for driveways must contain at least 300kgs per cubic metre.
Colder conditions will require you to consume 350-380 kgs.
To increase the floor’s durability, resistance to weather and wear, you can add an air entertaining agent.
Reducing Maintenance & Maximising Results
The overall appearance of patterned concrete can be improved by using a solvent-based acrylic sealing agent (only after it is dry). Water-based acrylics pose a greater problem for patterned concrete so they should be avoided.
For a beautiful appearance, sealant should be applied every four to five years.
While it’s not required, this will help to keep your driveway (or any other place where our patterned concrete has been installed) looking fantastic for many years.
